Everything DiSC® on Catalyst: Motivating Your Team with Everything DiSC® Worksmart for Managers
Author: Julie Chance, Founder of Action-Strategies-By-Design
In the video Julie introduces the latest module in the Everything DiSC Worksmart series, aimed at managers on the Catalyst platform. The Worksmart series consists of five modules, and this video focuses on Motivating Your Team. Julie highlights the importance of understanding motivation, which involves recognizing what motivates and demotivates each of the four DiSC styles—D, I, S, and C—and implementing tactics to create a motivating environment. The module includes an overview of the four styles, discussions on motivation, and personal content tailored to individual participants, including their motivators and demotivators. Participants engage in discussions and breakout sessions to explore these dynamics further.
The video details how demotivation affects each DiSC style: the D style feels drained by lack of control, the i style by repetitive tasks and isolation, the S style by change and instability, and the C style by be rushed and producing what they consider low-quality work. Conversely, motivation for each style involves ambition and control for the D style, positive energy and recognition for the i style, a supportive environment for the S style, and problem-solving for the C style. Participants are encouraged to reflect on a colleague’s style and how to adapt their approaches to better motivate them.
The module concludes with action planning, allowing participants to create a tailored plan for motivating a specific colleague. This involves selecting two focus areas to work on, providing answers to questions directly within the Catalyst platform, and considering accountability measures.
Julie notes that the ability to create the action plan directly on Catalyst is a new feature in Worksmart.
This video is part of a series that includes other topics like Giving Feedback, Empowering Your Team, and Navigating Change, with a future session on Engaging in Healthy Conflict. Julie invites viewers to explore these resources on her YouTube channel and encourage those interested in learning more to reach out.
